First A.M.E. Housing Association is committed to building strong communities for seniors and families who deserve access to beautiful, safe, and affordable housing. As part of our commitment, the FAME Housing Association provides affordable housing to low-income individuals, families, and senior citizens in Seattle's historic Central District.
We are the proud owners of 98 units at the Bryant Manor, Texada, and Imperial Apartments. Our properties are designed to provide our residents with a community atmosphere and an affordable, clean, welcoming environment.
In October of 1967, Rev. John H. Adams, pastor of First A.M.E. Church of Seattle, gathered several dedicated church members to form a housing corporation. At this organizing meeting, Rev. Adams stated that several H.U.D. Insured rehabilitation projects were planned for the area and were to be owned and sponsored by non-profit groups. He encouraged the group to go after these opportunities stating that "we should organize quickly to take advantage of these opportunities when they arise."
In June of 1969, the First A.M.E. Housing Church Corporation (First A.M.E. Housing Association) was formed to take advantage of the new opportunities to own and sponsor projects. The original incorporators were members of the First A.M.E. Church of Seattle.
